Govinda to play Vijay Mallya in Pahlaj Nihalani's next movie
Pahlaj Nihalani, the former head of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), is all set to make a film on the life of absconding businessman Vijay Mallya. He has roped in Govinda to play the lead role in the yet-to-be-titled project. The film will be produced and directed by Nihalani himself. Here's more.
"The movie will be completely entertaining"
While speaking to a news agency, Nihalani said, "I am making a movie inspired by the life of Vijay Mallya and Govinda is in the main lead. Audiences will be surprised to see his new avatar. The movie will be completely entertaining."
Nihalani courted multiple controversies as CBFC chief
Notably, during his tenure as CBFC chief, Nihalani hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons. He had reportedly issued a list of cuss words that were not to be used in the movies, even in the A-certified ones. He also raised objections over kissing scenes and actors smoking and drinking on screen. Prasoon Joshi replaced him in August last year.
He also plans to make a sequel to 'Aankhen'
After his last production venture, 'Julie 2', bombed at the box office, he announced that he will be making a sequel to his 1993 action-comedy 'Aankhen'. Nihalani also said that he wants to cast Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor in the film.
