Padmavat, Padman or Pari: Who'll win the box office clash?
After a lengthy battle, Deepika-Shahid-Ranveer starrer 'Padmavat' is releasing on January 25, reported Mumbai Mirror. However, others claim the makers are considering a February 9 release. Either way, it will clash with one or the other anticipated movie: Akshay Kumar's 'Padman' is releasing on January 28, while Anushka Sharma's 'Pari' will come on February 9. Which blockbuster do you think will win?
Padmavat releasing in a couple of weeks, but how smoothly?
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavat, originally Padmavati, saw furious protests, violence and, if reports are to be believed, even human sacrifices. The 2:43-hour-long movie was finally cleared by the censor board with a U/A certificate. Threats loom large: Rajput outfits have said they would "set ablaze" cinema halls screening the movie. But the 'Padmavat wave' is riding high; the movie is guaranteed to pull crowds.
Will Padman or Pari reschedule their release dates?
Then there's R Balki's Padman, based on social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad making machine. The trailer has garnered much interest. But will it be able to give Padmavat a strong fight? Irrespective, co-producer Prernaa Arora has said they won't change Padman's release date. However, Arora, also the co-producer of Pari, hasn't yet commented on that movie.
The ones who have already backed out of the race
Meanwhile, at least one movie, Neeraj Pandey's Aiyaari starring Manoj Bajpayee, has been postponed from January 26 to February 9 to avoid clashing with Padmavat. Luv Ranjan, director of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (February 9), says he will do something similar: "I see no sense in clashing with Padmavat and harming the best release my film can get."
