'Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba,' 'Gyaarah Gyaarah': This week's OTT releases
This week promises a variety of entertainment on streaming platforms, with several original shows and movies set to premiere. On Thursday, the final season of The Umbrella Academy was released on Netflix. Up next, the streamer will release the crime thriller sequel Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, Disney+Hotstar will debut Life Hill Gayi, and ZEE5 will launch Gyaarah Gyaarah. 'Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba': August 9
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, releasing on August 9 on Netflix, continues the story of Rani and Rishu from Haseen Dillruba (2021). The couple, now living in Agra under new identities, must avoid police attention while dealing with unexpected challenges like flooding and crocodile infestations in the Yamuna River. The cast includes Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, Jimmy Sheirgill, Sunny Kaushal, and Vivek Jha.
'Gyaarah Gyaarah': August 9
Gyaarah Gyaarah is a drama-fantasy series premiering on ZEE5 on Friday. It features three police officers from different timelines —1990, 2001, and 2016— who use a mysterious walkie-talkie to solve long-forgotten cold cases. The series stars Kritika Kamra, Dhairya Karwa, and Raghav Juyal among others, and is produced by Academy Award winner Guneet Monga in collaboration with Karan Johar.
'Life Hill Gayi': August 9
Life Hill Gayi is a comedy-romance series debuting on Disney+ Hotstar on Friday. It features Divyenndu and Kusha Kapila as siblings who must restore their family's dilapidated hotel to inherit their ancestral estate. The series promises a string of hilarious mishaps and relatable scenes and also stars many popular actors such as Mukti Mohan, Vinay Pathak, and Kabir Bedi.
'Turbo': August 9
Turbo, an action-comedy film, will premiere on SonyLIV on August 9. The film features Mollywood star Mammootty as Turbo Jose, a rugged Jeep driver who gets entangled in a web of love, friendship, and deceit after his friend is attacked by henchmen. Turbo was a successful affair on the box office and is the first Indian film ever to be dubbed in Arabic.
'Ghudchadi'
On Friday, you can also watch Ghudchadi, starring Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Aruna Irani, Parth Samthaan, Khushalii Kumar, and Ansha Sayed. Written and directed by Binoy Gandhi, it will stream on JioCinema. "It is an out-and-out comedy and a family film. I loved it as soon as I heard the first narration, and I feel lucky to have worked with the entire team," Tandon said about the movie.
'Indian 2'
The Tamil film, Indian 2, which didn't live up to box office expectations and was also critically panned, is set for a debut on Netflix on Friday. The movie, also known in Telugu as Bharateeyudu 2, is a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian/Bharateeyudu. Directed by Shankar, It was released on July 12, clashing with Akshay Kumar's Sarfira.
