What's the story
British dramatist Peter Straughan has won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Conclave—his adaptation of Robert Harris's papal thriller.
Straughan was previously nominated for an Oscar in 2011 for co-writing Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with his late wife, Bridget O'Connor, who passed away before the film's release.
At the Academy Awards, Conclave surpassed A Complete Unknown, Sing Sing, Nickel Boys, and Emilia Pérez.
