#Oscars2022: Will Smith slaps Chris Rock, apologizes to all present
The 94th Academy Awards concluded on Monday. Like every year, Oscars 2022 too had its high and low points, but actor Will Smith slapping comedian Chris Rock on the stage takes both the cake and trophy for being the highest point seen in any Oscars ceremony. Later, in his acceptance speech—as he won the Best Actor—Smith apologized to "the Academy," for his actions.
This is what had happened on stage
It so happened that Rock took the stage to present the Oscar for best documentary feature and insensitively joked about Jada Pinkett Smith acting in G.I. Jane 2 because of her shaved head. Reacting to this, her husband, actor-producer Smith, went up to the stage and slapped Rock. Once back in his seat, he shouted, "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth!"

This is the reason why Pinkett Smith is bald
It needs to be noted that Pinkett Smith had shaved her head completely in July 2020 after years of struggling with alopecia and opened up about it last December via Instagram. "Me and this alopecia are going to be friends ... period!" read her post.
This is how Smith managed the situation
The altercation took all present by surprise and Rock's face had also lost sheen. Smith, who is known to have a calm demeanor at all times, however, didn't let things go out of hand. The Hollywood star quickly grabbed the first chance he got to apologize to all those who were present and to the Academy in his acceptance speech for Best Actor.
Love will make you do crazy things, Smith said
In his acceptance speech, a visibly emotional Smith said, "I want to apologize to the Academy...to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I'm not crying for winning an award, it's not about winning an award for me." "Art imitates life, I look like the crazy father... Love will make you do crazy things," he added, eliciting laughs from the crowd.

Rock declines to file police report
Meanwhile, Rock has refused to file a report against Smith. "LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved...declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report," stated the LAPD.
Who won what at the Oscars 2022?
Held at the usual venue—the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California—Oscars 2022 was hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes.
