#Oscars2022: 'CODA' wins Best Picture, Jane Campion is Best Director
The 94th Academy Awards concluded on Monday. Held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, the event was hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes. While CODA won the Best Picture, the Best Actor (Male and Female) went to Will Smith and Jessica Chastain, respectively. Notably, Jane Campion was adjudged the Best Director for The Power of the Dog. When it came to the number of nominations, Western psychological drama The Power of the Dog was leading the pack with 12 nods, but that didn't translate into many wins. On the other hand, Dune won six trophies out of its 10 nominations. The Denis Villeneuve-directed Hollywood film won in the categories of Best Original Score, Best Sound, and Best Production Design, among others.

Troy Kotsur created history by becoming the first deaf male actor to win an Oscar. He won the Best Supporting Actor award for CODA. Meanwhile, Ariana DeBose won the Best Supporting Actress for West Side Story. She defeated fellow nominees Jesse Buckley (The Lost Daughter), Judi Dench (Belfast), Kirsten Dunst (The Power of the Dog), and Aunjanue Ellis (King Richard) to win the trophy.
Winners of Best Original Screenplay and others
Kenneth Branagh won his first Oscar for Belfast. He grabbed the trophy for the Best Original Screenplay, while the Best Adapted Screenplay award went to Sian Heder (CODA). Japan's Drive My Car, directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, was adjudged the Best International Feature Film. The Japanese movie had also received Best Picture and Best Director nominations. Disney sensation Encanto won the Best Animated Feature Film.

Riz Ahmed won his first Oscar for The Long Goodbye in the Best Live Action Short Film category, alongside Aneil Karia. The Queen of Basketball grabbed the Best Documentary Short Subject trophy. Moreover, the Best Documentary Feature award went to the Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) team and the Best Costume Design award went to Jenny Beavan (Cruella).
