Oscars 2022: Which Best Picture-nominee is being streamed the most?
The most-coveted Academy Awards 2022 are just around the corner. And, before the Best Picture of the year is announced, people are rushing to watch all the 10 nominees and make their informed choice. While some movies are being streamed non-stop, certain highly hyped ones have seemed to have lost their shine. So which of the nominees are currently being streamed the most globally?
Here are the 10 nominees in Best Picture category
To tell you about the 10 nominees, Belfast, CODA, Don't Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog, and West Side Story, have made it to the list of the most anticipated Oscars honor.
'Nightmare Alley'
When we take into account the daily streaming data, as calculated by JustWatch, Nightmare Alley has grabbed the most eyeballs in the past week. In one week, the psychological thriller has seen momentous growth, going from 2K daily views on March 16 to over 6K on March 23. The Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett-starrer is streaming on Hulu but is yet to release in India.
'Licorice Pizza'
Another Cooper-starrer, Licorice Pizza is our second-most-streamed film. Locking in over 3K viewers a week ago (March 16), it has seen a steady growth of 4,092 views on Wednesday. Although the coming-of-age story, set in the 1970s, came out in a select few Indian theaters, there's no update about its OTT release as of now. It's available to buy/rent on Apple TV+ in America.
'Dune'
Next up is Dune, which has actually witnessed a dip in viewership. Having achieved its peak in February (5,085 views), Denis Villeneuve's movie has been clocking in around 3K views for the last week. After premiering in Indian halls last October, the multi-starrer is arriving on Amazon Prime Video on March 25. It stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, and Josh Brolin, among others.
'Belfast'
Kenneth Branagh's highly-acclaimed historical drama Belfast comes next. Although the film seems to have crossed its high, it has been recording over 2.7-2.8K viewers consistently for this past week. Starring Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Caitriona Balfe, and Jude Hill, Belfast is yet to be available for streaming in India. The story set in Belfast, Ireland in the 1960s, is streaming on Apple TV+.
'King Richard'
Will Smith's brilliant act in King Richard is paying off as it is the fifth most-streamed Best Picture nominee currently. It has steadily received over 2,400 daily views for the past week. The story of Richard Williams, the father of tennis aces Venus and Serena Williams, is another film unavailable to stream here. But the Reinaldo Marcus Green-directorial is hitting Indian halls this Friday.
