On 'KBC,' Amitabh Bachchan reprimands contestant for calling women 'burden'
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who hosts the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), recently schooled a contestant for his regressive views on women. The incident occurred during an episode of KBC 16 when the contestant, Krishna Selukar, referred to unmarried women as a "burden" on their families. Bachchan was quick to correct him and emphasized that women can never be a burden.
'A woman can never be a burden on the family...'
During the episode, Selukar—who is an engineer by profession—compared his unemployment situation to that of an unmarried woman. He said, "If I say that an unmarried lady is a burden to her family, then after an age, an unemployed man is also a burden." Bachchan immediately intervened and corrected Selukar's misconception. "Can I tell you one thing? A woman can never be a burden on the family. She is always an honor," he said.
Bachchan's emotional message during 'KBC 16' premiere
Big B has been hosting KBC since its inception in 2000, with the exception of the third season which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. The 16th season of the show premiered earlier this month on Sony TV. During the first episode, Bachchan shared an emotional message expressing his gratitude for the love and support he has received throughout his journey on KBC. Bachchan said, "This stage is yours, this game is yours, and this season is only yours."
Bachchan's humorous response to another contestant's anecdote
In another episode, contestant Harshit Bhutani shared a funny story about a bet with his wife regarding who would appear on the show first. Bachchan responded with a playful remark, saying, "Patni ke saamne haar maan lena chahiye humesha, vo humesha sahi hoti hai...(One should always admit defeat in front of their wife; she is always right. The real truth is known to both of us, right?)" This comment left everyone in splits.
