'Adipurush' targets Sankranti outing, to release on January 12, 2023
Adipurush finally gets a release date! Starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, the mythological drama directed by Om Raut will get released in 3D on January 12, 2023, targeting the Sankranti week. Interestingly, Raut's first Hindi directorial, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, had released on January 10, 2020, and turned out to be a humongous hit. So, will Adipurush strike gold, too? Let's wait till 2023.
Why does this story matter?
Adipurush has been in the making since long, so viewers are anyway eagerly waiting for it. But, the subject of the film, Ramayana, is tricky and may offend a lot of people if the execution is not done as per expectations. Moreover, Adipurush has been made on a reported budget of Rs. 500cr! So, a lot is at stake for the film's team.

While announcing the release date, Prabhas wrote on Instagram, "#Adipurush Worldwide Theatrical Release in 3D on 12th Jan 2023." For now, no other film's theatrical outing has been announced during that time. The next release in January 2023 after Adipurush is Luv Ranjan's film starring Ranbir Kapoor, John Abraham-led Tehran, and Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone's Fighter, all of which are coming out on January 26.
Earlier, 'Laal Singh Chaddha' pushed release of 'Adipurush'
Earlier, Adipurush was supposed to release on August 11, 2022, but was postponed due to Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of the classic Forrest Gump. Meanwhile, Adipurush, shot in Hindi and Telugu, will release in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and other Indian and international languages as well.

In this adaptation of Ramayana, we will see Prabhas as Lord Rama, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh or Ravana, while Sanon will be seen as Sita. Sunny Singh (Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety) will play the character of Lakshmana. Actors Devdatta Nage (Hanuman), Vatsal Sheth, and Trupti Toradmal round up the cast. It has been bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series.
