Olivia Munn was offered millions to hide 'traumatic' on-set incident
What's the story
Hollywood actor Olivia Munn recently disclosed that she was offered a "seven-figure amount" to keep quiet about a "traumatic" incident on a movie set.
The revelation came during her appearance on Monica Lewinsky's podcast, Reclaiming.
Munn, who is known for her roles in films such as Predator and X-Men: Apocalypse, did not reveal the exact details of the incident or the project.
Stand for justice
'Things that happened on this movie set...was really not OK'
Munn revealed that her childhood bullying made her a "feisty" person who believes in justice.
This was what guided her when she was treated poorly on an unnamed movie set.
"There were other things that happened on this movie set personally to me that was really not OK and it was so traumatic that I had to file complaints with the studio," she told Lewinsky.
Concerns voiced
Munn's refusal to sign NDA despite lucrative offer
Munn also said she was worried about signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for the seven-figure amount.
She was afraid her voice would be silenced and her credibility questioned, particularly since this happened in the early days of the #MeToo-Time's Up movement.
"I was afraid that my voice and speaking up would reverse any kind of validity to my voice," she said on the podcast.
Rejection stance
Munn's decision to reject the offer and maintain integrity
Despite agreeing to meet the lawyers, Munn eventually turned down their offer. She remembered telling her lawyer, "I'm not taking it."
"I said to him, 'I know this is a lot of money to you but it is not a lot of money to me to lose my voice'...and we walked out of there."
Looking back at the incident, she said she was proud of her decision and it taught her a lot about making decisions out of anger.
Past revelations
Munn's history of addressing injustices in Hollywood
Notably, this isn't the first time Munn has spoken out against Hollywood injustices.
In her 2010 essay collection, Suck It, Wonder Woman!: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek, she alleged that director Brett Ratner masturbated in front of her on a film set in 2004.
Further, in 2018, she protested against the casting of a sex offender in Predator and got her scene with the actor removed.
