Sonam-Anand wedding ceremony: Objections raised over brooch
What's the story
A week after the wedding of Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand Ahuja, the couple has found itself in the middle of an unnecessary controversy.
A certain group has raised objections on their traditional Sikh wedding ceremony. The uproar is over a brooch (kalgi) that was there on Anand's turban.
Sonam and Anand tied the knot on May 8 at her aunt's bungalow in Mumbai.
Details
The brooch hurt religious sentiments
As per a media report, former office-bearers of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) are miffed with its current staffers as they didn't remove Anand's brooch from his turban during the ceremony, in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib. This counts as a violation of Sikh tenets.
The issue has been taken to the Akal Takht.
