Nushrratt Bharuccha, Diana Penty join Akshay Kumar-Emraan Hashmi's 'Selfiee'
We knew that Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi were collaborating on the comedy-drama, Selfiee. Now, the team has welcomed the female leads—Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty—aboard. Sharing a fun video online, all the four actors announced the news on Monday. The production for the film was kicked off recently in Bhopal. Reportedly, Selfiee is a remake of the hit 2019 Malayalam flick, Driving Licence.
How was the announcement made?
While the shooting has just begun, the squad is already offering a sneak-peek into all the comedy in store for us. And, the cast announcement clip is proof of that. Shot inside a car, the 46-second-long clip opens with all four actors holding the script of the movie and dancing to the Selfiee song. Staying true to the theme, they also take a selfie.

What do we know of the film?
Back in January, Kumar had dropped the teaser for the film, which also featured Hashmi and the Selfiee song. As per reports, Kumar will be playing a superstar in the film, while Hashmi will essay a motor vehicle inspector who is a fan of Kumar's character. Notably, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu had starred in the original, playing Kumar's and Hashmi's roles, respectively.
Know about the crew of this film
The film will be helmed by Raj Mehta of Good Newwz and Jug Jugg Jeeyo fame. Karan Johar is backing Selfiee under his Dharma Productions banner. This project also marks Sukumaran's debut in Hindi film production. On March 10, he had shared images from the muhurat puja of the film. Desi Music Factory and Disney+ Hotstar are also associated with the project.

All about the film's cast
Bharuccha will be reuniting with Kumar after Ram Setu. Also, it will be his first onscreen tie-up with both Hashmi and Penty. The cast announcement comes just days after Kumar's Bachchhan Paandey hit big screens on Holi to lukewarm response. Meanwhile, Hashmi is gearing up for the release of Tiger 3, where he will star as the antagonist opposite Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
