Weekend watch: Julie 2 or Kadvi Hawa?
This week two Bollywood films 'Julie 2' and 'Kadvi Hawa' have made their way to the theatres. As one can guess, the reviews of 'Julie 2' are not great. However, 'Kadvi Hawa' seems like a breath of fresh air in a claustrophobic cinematic week. Here are the details you should know before you head out to watch a movie this weekend!
'Julie 2 should be missed, Kadvi Hawa is too streched'
IE critic Shubhra Gupta has strictly advised cinegoers to give 'Julie 2' a miss. According to Gupta, the film doesn't make any sense. Inspite of having great actors like Aditya Srivastava and Pankaj Tripathi, it fails to create magic. On the other hand, 'Kadvi Hawa' feels like a stretch even at 100 minutes. The storyline holds some relevance as it is about climate change.
'Julie 2 is trippy, Kadvi Hawa portrays a real story'
'Julie 2' seems to have disappointed the HT critic to a great extent. He feels the film is weirdly trippy and Raai Laxmi appears absolutely clueless. The critic is happy to give it a zero star! 'Kadvi Hawa' has been recommended by HT, the critic feels that film portrays a dark, haunting tale of climate change and farmers' suicides issues.
'Julie 2 is trash, Kadvi Hawa is hard-hitting'
NDTV's Saibal Chatterjee feels Pahlaj Nihalani is back to selling trash in the form of Julie 2. He feels the film is neither bold nor beautiful and rates it one out of five. However, 'Kadvi Hawa's hard-hitting storyline has impressed him big time. He is happy that the film is delivered without any sugar-coating and brings forth an important social issue.
Editor's take
The critics have advised against 'Julie 2' as it is nothing but a trashy tale showcased on a 70mm screen. For entertainment-hungry audience 'Kadvi Hawa' may not suit your taste either, as it is a serious tale revolving around climate-change issues. Technically, there's no film to soothe your weekend pangs, so the advice would be to curl-up in your sofa and instead binge-watch 'Bose'.
