Nimisha on 'Dabba Cartel': 'Had no reason to say no'
What's the story
Acclaimed actor Nimisha Sajayan, who is known for being choosy with her roles, recently opened up about working on the Netflix series Dabba Cartel.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, she said that the unique story of five women running a truck cartel intrigued her.
"I had no reason to say no to the project," she said.
Character appeal
Sajayan was drawn to her character's complexity
Sajayan was especially fascinated by her character, Mala, in the series. She called Mala a multi-dimensional character with different shades to her personality.
"She's a single mother...a dreamer...bold, strong, independent, fearless."
"But at the same time, she carries many insecurities," Sajayan added.
This complexity made Mala an interesting and difficult character for Sajayan to play.
Co-star admiration
Sajayan admired her co-stars in 'Dabba Cartel'
Sajayan also gushed about her co-stars in Dabba Cartel, especially Shabana Azmi and Jyotika.
She said watching Azmi perform was "truly magical" and called Jyotika a "brilliant actress." "It's like every actor's dream to work with Shabana Azmi ma'am."
Sajayan added that she had formed close bonds with Jyotika and Anjali Anand on set.
Upcoming ventures
Sajayan's current projects and plans
Beyond Dabba Cartel, Sajayan is working on a Tamil series and has a Tamil film lined up for release soon. She was also seen in Sohum Shah's Crazxy, which has been doing well at the theaters.
Despite her busy schedule, she is still determined to pick roles that let women shine and offer strong female characters.
