Nikkhil Advani won't direct Salman Khan again; here's why
Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani has expressed his reluctance to work with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the future, despite their past collaborations. In a recent interview, Advani cited the immense box office pressure associated with Khan's films as the primary reason for his decision. The duo has previously worked together on films such as Salaam-e-Ishq and Hero.
'Salman's films expected to earn over ₹300 crore'
Speaking to Lallantop, Advani explained that films featuring Khan are expected to rake in over ₹300 crore at the box office. "Salman Khan films have to make more than ₹300 cr. If his films do less than that, he feels really bad, and I don't want that burden." "I want to sleep peacefully at night and not carry the burden of making that ₹300-₹400 cr (grossing) film."
Advani praises Khan's unwavering support, commitment
Despite his decision, Advani described Khan as the "messiah" of the film industry. He lauded the actor's unwavering support and commitment, stating that he would drop everything to help in an emergency. Advani also recalled an incident where Khan reached out to him after his fallout with Karan Johar post Kal Ho Naa Ho. This led to their collaboration on Salaam-e-Ishq and Hero.
Advani's previous collaborations with Khan flopped
Despite Khan's insistence for Advani to work on a film for him, both Salaam-e-Ishq and Hero flopped at the box office. Salaam-e-Ishq, which featured a star-studded cast including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Govinda, and Anil Kapoor, failed to impress audiences. Similarly, Hero, which marked the debut of Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, also did not perform well. Khan had a special appearance in Hero.
