Nikkhil Advani won't direct Salman, SRK, Akshay anymore—here's why
What's the story
Famed Bollywood director Nikkhil Advani, who has worked with superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, recently said he doesn't want to work with them anymore.
In an interview with Lehren Retro, he confessed he feels pressured by the box office expectations of these stars.
"I don't know how to make a film that makes ₹600-800 crore," he said.
Production over direction
'Even if I've the will to do it, I can't'
Further clarifying his stance, Advani said that while he is open to producing films with these superstars, he doesn't want to direct them.
He often sends scripts to Akshay Kumar but refuses to direct him.
"Yes, I will produce for them but I don't wish to direct. I can't. Even if I have the will to do it, I can't."
"I tell everyone John (Abraham), Akshay (Kumar)...that I don't know how to make a film that makes ₹600-800 crore."
Script standards
Advani's relationship with SRK and script considerations
When asked if he sends SRK any script, Advani, who collaborated with King Khan on Kal Ho Naa Ho, revealed that he doesn't have a suitable script for the actor at the moment.
He said, "I don't have a subject for him and I will never go to him with a subject unless I think it is going to beat Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kal Ho Naa Ho."
