Nicola Coughlan would 'cry randomly' while filming 2 shows simultaneously
Nicola Coughlan, known for her roles in Bridgerton and Big Mood, has recently spoken about the emotional strain of managing both filming schedules simultaneously. In an interview with AP Entertainment, she revealed, "I'd film one show during the week, the other on the weekend." She is preparing to reprise her role as Penelope Featherington in Netflix's Bridgerton third season and stars as Maggie in Channel 4's comedy series Big Mood.
'And I would be saying, I am just very tired'
Coughlan candidly shared the emotional toll of handling both projects, stating, "I remember that I was so tired, I would just start crying randomly." She also revealed that she often found herself learning lines for Big Mood while on the set of Bridgerton, adding, "And I would be saying, 'There's nothing actually wrong with me. I am just very tired.'"
Distinct show styles posed greater difficulty
The actor emphasized the difficulties stemming from the contrasting styles of both shows. "Big Mood has quite naturalistic dialogue," she explained, "Bridgerton is very stylized. We'd film one in West London and one in East London. It was just bonkers." Notably, Big Mood premiered in March, and Bridgerton S03 Part I is set for May release. Coughlan is the lead star for the hit Netflix show's upcoming season.
Coughlan learned lines on set due to hectic schedule
Coughlan was giving the interview with Lydia West, her co-star from Big Mood, who confessed being impressed by the Derry Girls star's ability to learn lines on set. "I had no other time to do it," Coughlan admitted, "I needed more hours in the day." West was also preparing for a solo show while filming the English series.
