NHRC orders YouTube to remove 'vulgar' content from 'Latent' show
What's the story
The National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) has ordered YouTube to take down certain episodes of the roast show India's Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina.
The order came after a complaint about "highly objectionable, inappropriate, and obscene material and remarks" in the show.
Priyank Kanoongo—a member of NHRC—was concerned over children's easy access to such content in his letter to Mira Chatt, Head of Public Policy at YouTube.
Action demanded

Kanoongo has asked YouTube to "take urgent action to remove the concerned episode/videos from YouTube."
He also directed that details of the channel and specific videos be submitted to police authorities where an FIR has been registered.
Kanoongo expects an action taken report within three days from the issuance of his letter.
The complaint was lodged by Yogendra Singh Thakur, who alleged India's Got Latent propagated negativity, discriminatory perspectives, and religious intolerance.

The controversial content is reportedly in violation of several legal provisions under Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
This comes after a recent controversy over content creator Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks on the show.
A clip of Allahbadia asking a contestant an inappropriate question had gone viral, drawing widespread criticism and calls for the show's cancelation.
Public apology
Allahbadia issued a public apology amid escalating controversy
In the wake of the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology on X/Twitter. "I shouldn't have said what I said on India's Got Latent. I'm sorry," he wrote.
According to ANI, a complaint has been filed against Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Raina, and the organizers of India's Got Latent.
The complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women's Commission.
