Rajkummar Rao's 'Newton' out of Oscars
Rajkummar Rao's Newton, India's official entry in the Best Foreign Language category at the 90th Academy Awards, unfortunately, failed to make a cut in the Oscars. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAAS) made a formal announcement that Amit Masurkar-directorial 'Newton' is not a part of the nine-film line-up, which has advanced to the next round of voting. With Newton being out of the race, there are nine films that have been chosen for the next rounds. These are: A Fantastic Woman (Chile), In the Fade (Germany), On Body and Soul (Hungary), Foxtrot (Israel), The Insult (Lebanon), Loveless (Russia), Felicite (Senegal), The Wound (South Africa) and The Square (Sweden). Final nominations for the awards will be announced on January 23.
