'Spider-Man: Far From Home' will see old villains return
Spider-Man: Far From Home dropped its trailer recently which showed Tom Holland as Peter Parker, web-slinging his way across Europe and surprisingly, allying up with Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio. While the movie will introduce a new set of villains, possibly the Elementals, there have been reports that fans can expect to see some of Spidey's old villains returning as well. Read all about it here.
Reports suggest old cast members will return for sequel
Apart from the familiar faces we already saw in the Far From Home trailer, we will also see other recognizable characters from Spider-Man: Homecoming, according to reports by Deadline. Michael Keaton and Laura Harrier are supposed to reprise their roles in the upcoming movie. Notably, Keaton played Adrian Toomes or Vulture, the main antagonist in Homecoming while Harrier played Liz Allen, his daughter.
However, the characters are not yet confirmed to return
Toomes and his daughter returning are mere reports at this time without any confirmation. If fans remember, Homecoming showed Liz moving away from New York City along with her mother after the crimes of her father came to light and eventually led to him being arrested. It remains to be seen how these two characters are reintroduced in the upcoming film.
'Homecoming' post-credit had teased Vulture's return
Although the return of Vulture in Far From Home is not confirmed, it would be noteworthy to mention that the post credit scene of Homecoming had teased the ongoing involvement of Vulture. It had also upped the stakes, introducing Mac Gargan better known as the Scorpion, one of the most infamous villains from Spider-Man's rogues' gallery. Logically the upcoming film should feature both villains.
Story line will build towards the future films in franchise
Even if the Vulture does feature in the upcoming Far From Home movie, he will not be the main villain. That distinction will be held by the Elementals and probably Mysterio. Nonetheless, the movie could feature Vulture and Scorpion in small roles, building the franchise's overall storyline. Personally, this writer hopes they form the Sinister Six, a group of villains hell-bent on eliminating Spider-Man.
