Amazon Prime Video's espionage thriller, Citadel, is set to welcome new faces in its upcoming second season. The show, headlined by Richard Madden and global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, has added actors Merle Dandridge, Rahul Kohli, and Michael Trucco to its recurring cast, reported Variety. Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Jack Reynor, Matt Berry, and Gabriel Leone are also joining the ensemble, the report suggested.
New cast members bring extensive experience to 'Citadel'
Dandridge, known for her role in HBO's The Last of Us, and appearances in Station 19, Greenleaf, The Flight Attendant, and Sons of Anarchy joins the Citadel cast. Kohli, who has collaborated with Mike Flanagan on shows like The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass, and others, is also on board. Trucco, recognized for his roles in the CBS series Fire Country and the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, completes the new lineup.
Season 2 promises more thrills and intrigue
Citadel, which premiered in 2023 with Chopra Jonas playing elite spy Nadia Sinh and Madden as Mason Kane, is set for its second season. The show is executive produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes for AGBO. "The second season will build on the intense action and complex characters introduced in the first season, promising even more thrilling twists and intrigue," said Russo-Otstot, AGBO's Chief Creative Officer.
'Citadel' expands universe with international spin-offs
The Citadel universe is set to expand with the announcement of spin-offs Citadel: Diana from Italy and Citadel: Honey Bunny from India. Russo-Otstot mentioned that these additions will further enhance the storytelling and scope of the Citadel world. The Indian version, Citadel: Honey Bunny, directed by Raj and DK, stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan, and is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 7.
'Citadel' Season 2 and 'The Bluff' set production dates
In addition to the second season of Citadel, AGBO, Prime Video, and Chopra Jonas are also collaborating on an action-period film titled The Bluff. The film is expected to wrap up production this summer. In addition to The Bluff, Chopra will feature in Heads of State, an action-comedy starring Idris Elba, John Cena, and Jack Quaid. Meanwhile, production for the second season of Citadel is scheduled to commence later this year.
