Netflix's 'Never Have I Ever' Season 2 release date announced
Season two of Mindy Kaling's hit coming of age comedy-drama, Never Have I Ever, is slated to release in July this year. The release date was announced by both Kaling and Canadian actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who plays the character of Devi Vishwakumar in the show. The series premiered on Netflix last year in April, and has been well received by fans and critics.
'Okay so now that we all know it's July...'
"JULY 2021, hope you like summer picnic dates," said Ramakrishnan on Twitter, and went ahead to ask, "Okay so now that we all know it's July, when are we gonna start making memes?" The actress had planned to attend the York University after high school, but had to defer when Kaling chose her among 15,000 candidates for the TV show.

Rapper Common has been roped in for this edition
Meanwhile, American rapper Common will be joining the cast of Never Have I Ever as Dr. Chris Jackson, a dermatologist. He will be working in the same building as Devi's mother, Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar, played by Poorna Jagannathan, who is also a dermatologist. Rounding out the cast is Devi's cousin Kamala played by Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison as Ben, and Darren Barnet as Paxton.

How Kaling's childhood experiences inspired the praiseworthy show
The show is loosely based on Kaling's childhood experiences in the United States. It showcases Indian American student Devi trying to come to terms with her father's death. The series has been well received by fans and praised for breaking Asian stereotypes and representing South Asians in Hollywood. The show has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.9/10 on IMDb.
Who will Devi choose - Ben or Paxton?
Season two is expected to bring some clarity to Devi's love life, after the season one cliffhanger showed her struggling to choose between Paxton and Ben. The new season will also introduce another student of Indian origin named Aneesa played by Megan Suri (Devi's possible rival?) "Her confidence and radiance will pose an immediate threat to Maitreyi Ramakrishnan's Devi," as reported by Deadline.
