Hours after Armaan Kohli's arrest, girlfriend withdraws assault case
A lot of drama has unfolded in the Armaan Kohli's case in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, Mumbai Police, after much effort, got hold of the former 'Bigg Boss' contestant after he came out of his hideout to buy a SIM card. And just hours after his arrest, girlfriend Neeru Randhawa withdrew the assault case that she had earlier filed. Here are the details.
The case will still proceed through the court
During the hearing in the Bandra court, Kohli's lawyer Lakshmi Raman told the magistrate Pragati Yerlekar that Armaan and Randhawa have mutually settled the case and that "no purpose will be served with his custody." However, as per law, an FIR cannot be withdrawn without a court's consent. Therefore, the case, that Randhawa had filed against Kohli, will have to proceed through the court.
Kohli's bail application has also been rejected
Things do not seem to be going in Kohli's favor at the moment as the magistrate did not approve of his bail application. Thus, his lawyer is now planning to approach the Mumbai's session court to get him out of the jail.
Randhawa had earlier leveled some serious accusations against Kohli
In her complaint, Randhawa had stated that Kohli banged her head against the floor and pushed her down the stairs. She sustained severe injuries and had to undergo a surgery. On the basis of Randhawa's statements, Santacruz Police booked Kohli under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 326 (causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult to breach peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
