    What's the story

Veteran actors Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav won everyone's hearts with their endearing chemistry in Prime Video's acclaimed web series Panchayat.

Apparently as an ode to their onscreen partnership, Neena has shared a throwback picture with Raghubir, clearly from their early acting days.

Panchayat sees Raghubir playing the role of pradhan ji (head) of a village panchayat, while Neena plays his wife.

    Here's more.

    Details

Neena shared the post on Instagram

While Panchayat is their latest collaboration, Neena (60) and Raghubir (62) have previously worked on several films together. They include Aadharshila (1982) and The Seventh Horse of the Sun (1992).

In Neena's Instagram post, which is perhaps from an old show/play, the actors can be seen holding microphones.

Neena captioned the post as, "Jab pradhan aur pradhan patni jawan thay. Raghubir aur main (sic)."

'Panchayat' stars Jitendra Kumar in lead role

Created by TVF and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, Panchayat traces the journey of a young engineering graduate, who, for lack of a better opportunity, joins as a secretary at the panchayat office of a remote village in Uttar Pradesh.

Jitendra Kumar plays the lead character of Abhishek Tripathi.

The series also features Biswapati Sarkar, Chandan Roy and Faisal Malik in supporting roles.

    Review

'Panchayat' received glowing reviews from critics and audience

The web show, set mostly in a village, has garnered glowing reviews from critics.

In our review of the series, we wrote, "Panchayat has its limitations — what's important is that it acknowledges them and manages not to mess up. With strong writing and powerful performances, the show is a winner. Plus, the sense of togetherness it inspires is comforting during these testing times."

    Information

Neena is currently in Uttarakhand's Mukteshwar

Meanwhile, Neena is currently in Uttarakhand's picturesque town Mukteshwar with her husband Vivek Mehra. Amid the nationwide lockdown, the actor revealed she spends her time doing Yoga, taking afternoon naps, and going for walks (not outdoors, of course).
