Nawazuddin Siddiqui's 'Raat Akeli Hai 2' nears completion
What's the story
Acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is currently immersed in the world of his upcoming film, Raat Akeli Hai 2.
The sequel of 2020's thriller drama Raat Akeli Hai, the movie marks Siddiqui's second collaboration with director Honey Trehan.
In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Siddiqui revealed that they have been filming for two months and have only five more days of shooting left.
Filming challenges
Siddiqui discusses the challenges of filming with Trehan
Taking a break from filming to attend the Cinevesture International Film Festival, Siddiqui opened up about the challenges of working with Trehan.
He humorously stated, "You can't enjoy [yourself] in a Honey Trehan film. He sets up difficult tasks for you."
"However if you are able to do it you leave the audience mighty impressed. Honey deliberately adds new dimensions to the characters in the script without telling you."
Cinema concerns
Siddiqui laments the changing landscape of Hindi cinema
Known for his varied roles, Siddiqui raised concerns over the state of Hindi cinema today.
He observed that ever since the pandemic, audience tastes have changed, and small and medium-budget films have been hardly released in theaters.
"It saddens me. It feels like we have regressed. Before the pandemic, small and medium-budget films were at least releasing in theaters and people were stepping out to watch them," he lamented.
"It's a big loss for medium-budget films."
Upcoming projects
'Raat Akeli Hai 2' and 'Costao' in Siddiqui's pipeline
Apart from Raat Akeli Hai 2, Siddiqui is also busy with Costao, a movie based on the life of customs officer Costao Fernandez.
Siddiqui revealed, "It's the story of a customs officer and what all he goes through. It's a human drama."
He'll also headline the Indian adaptation of the American medical drama House on JioHotstar, per PeepingMoon.
