'TKSS': Kapil Sharma talks about Navjot Singh Sidhu's return
It was in February when Navjot Singh Sidhu was asked to leave The Kapil Sharma Show for his tasteless comments on the Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans. He was soon replaced by Archana Puran Singh. And, now as per recent reports, Sidhu will most likely return to the show. Recently, during an award function, even comedian Kapil Sharma spoke about Sidhu's return.
Sidhu is currently busy with Lok Sabha elections: Kapil
While asked about Sidhu's much-anticipated return on TKSS, Kapil said, "Can't say much about it as Navjot Singh Sidhu is busy with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections." Though Kapil's statement didn't spill much, it did initiate hopes about Sidhu's return on TKSS after the polls.
Consequence: Sidhu's absence has taken a toll on show's TRP
Meanwhile, Sidhu's absence has affected the TRP of The Kapil Sharma Show. According to a report published in Navbharat Times, the makers of TKSS are quite distressed with a major downfall in the show's TRP after Sidhu's exit. The report further suggested that co-producer Salman Khan is also keen to bring Sidhu back on TKSS and is making constant efforts in this regard.
Sidhu's statement invited severe backlash, show makers took action immediately
To recall, it all started after Sidhu somewhat defended Pakistan on Pulwama attack. He maintained that an entire nation (Pakistan) can't be held responsible for the action of a handful. His statement irked netizens, who demanded his immediate ousting from TKSS. In fact, hashtags like #boycottSidhu and #boycottkapilsharmashow trended massively on Twitter. Following the controversy, the makers decided to sack Sidhu from the show.
Despite reports, Singh was roped in for only 20 episodes
Interestingly, soon after Sidhu was sacked from TKSS, he was replaced by Singh as the new judge of TKSS. While reports suggested that she had replaced Sidhu permanently, there was a buzz that she was roped in for only 20 episodes. In fact, she was paid just Rs. 2cr for her entire stint on TKSS, while Sidhu got Rs. 25cr per season.
