'Russian Doll' star Natasha Lyonne plans film directorial debut
Hollywood actor Natasha Lyonne, known for her roles in His Three Daughters and Poker Face, has hinted at her directorial debut with a feature film. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Lyonne revealed that she is currently working on her first movie, which she has written and plans to direct soon. She remained tight-lipped about the film's plot but shared some intriguing details.
Lyonne's film to explore concept of time
While Lyonne did not divulge specific details about the film's plot, she hinted at its unique concept. "If you're a dog person, then you're going to love it, because it plays with time, just like dog years do," the Russian Doll actor said. "It's heavy if you're a heavy cat and if you're an even heavier cat — well it's a comedy."
Lyonne's perspective on success and failure
Despite her enthusiasm for the project, Lyonne acknowledged that its success is not guaranteed. "I don't really take too seriously a pass as a failure," she said. "I have a lived experience that it's actually not how it works. It just hasn't found its correct permutation yet." She added, "That's mostly to say to the kids at home, you never know what the destiny of your own work is."
Lyonne's upcoming projects and collaborations
In addition to her directorial venture, Lyonne is currently filming Season 2 of the Rian Johnson series Poker Face. She is also set to appear in Marvel's The Fantastic Four alongside Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Her production company, Animal Pictures, recently signed a first-look deal with global entertainment group Sister. The company is currently producing four shows including Apple TV+'s Loot.
