After Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah to become FTII chairman?
Anupam Kher's hasty resignation as Film & Television Film Institute Of India (FTII) chairman left everyone surprised. Giving his resignation to I&B Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, earlier this week, Kher said his work commitments kept him busy. Reportedly, the Ministry Of Information & Broadcasting is now planning to bring Naseeruddin Shah on board. Notably, Kher succeeded Gajendra Chauhan in the institute.
Naseeruddin is perfect for the role, says Ministry
Although an official announcement about the new chairman is yet to be made, a source has revealed that the ministry considers Naseer a perfect choice for the post. "We would love to have Naseer Bhai take over. He is a phenomenal talent, articulate clued and hard-headed and a terrific administrator. He's perfect for the role," a source close to I&B Ministry reportedly stated.
Anupam Kher resigned due his busy schedule
In his resignation, which he shared on Twitter, Kher wrote he had told former I&B Minister Smriti Irani he has to stay out of India for months. He said his role in the show, he was associated with, had been increased, hence, won't be able to devote time to students. Kher also mentioned that it was an honor and privileged to be FTII chairman.

Naseeruddin took a jibe at Anupam's absence from FTII
Notably, Kher has often been criticized for his constant absence from FTII. In fact, Naseeruddin, when quizzed about Kher's performance as FTII chairman, also took a jibe at him. He said, "I don't think he's been there more than twice. I go to the FTII to deliver some lectures every now and then. I am told that he's not seen there very often".
Will Naseer take over FTII anytime soon?
Although reports suggest Naseeruddin Shah will be the new chairman of FTII, some reports claim the veteran actor isn't keen on taking up any government job. We wonder if he'll accept the offer.
