Nagarjuna's N-Convention Center demolished for encroaching lake in Madhapur
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRAA) agency has demolished actor Akkineni Nagarjuna's property, N Convention in Madhapur. This action comprises an ongoing drive to remove illegal constructions that have encroached on water bodies and public lands. The N Convention Center, a 10-acre facility, was reportedly found to be in violation of several land use and environmental regulations due to its encroachment on the Tummidikunta lake.
N Convention's encroachment on Tummidikunta lake
The N Convention Center was found to have encroached upon 1.12 acres within the Full Tank Level (FTL) of the Tummidikunta lake, and an additional two acres within the lake's buffer zone, reported India Today. This violation led to its demolition by HYDRAA officials, who were accompanied by a police force during the operation. The facility was allegedly built illegally in these protected areas of Thammidi Kunta Lake at Khanamet.

N Convention's alleged ties with GHMC
For several years, the management of the N Convention Center allegedly maintained good relationships with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other officials. These connections reportedly allowed them to avoid demolition despite their violations. Though photos and videos of HYDRAA's action have taken over X, Nagarjuna has not yet released an official statement regarding this incident.
HYDRAA's broader initiative to protect public lands
This demolition is part of a larger effort by HYDRAA to restore public lands and protect Hyderabad's water bodies from illegal encroachments. Earlier this week, as part of this initiative, illegal constructions in the FTL and buffer zone areas of Gandipet Lake were also demolished. The N Convention Center was a much sought-after venue for various events including weddings and corporate meetings.
