Samantha-Chaitanya divorce remarks: Dad Nagarjuna to file another ₹100cr suit
Renowned Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna initiated legal action against Telangana's Forests and Environment Minister, Konda Surekha on Thursday. The defamation suit was filed in response to Surekha's comments regarding the divorce of Akkineni's son Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, the actor stated that he is preparing to file another ₹100cr defamation lawsuit against her.
Akkineni expressed disappointment over Surekha's lack of apology
Akkineni expressed his disappointment over Surekha's lack of apology to his family. He stated, "Her outrageous comments cannot be allowed to slide under the crack. She now says she is withdrawing her remarks. She has apparently apologized to Samantha. What about my family? Not a word of apology to me and my family!" The actor emphasized that the issue had escalated beyond personal matters into a broader industry concern.

Akkineni highlighted the widespread support he has received from the Telugu industry. He stated, "The slander has gone far beyond just me and my family. The support we've received from the biggest to the smallest of names in the Telugu industry, has made me realize we are in the process of stemming the rot that has seeped into the core of our system."
'We in the entertainment industry won't be soft targets'
Further, he added, "You can't use our names for political gains. We in the entertainment industry won't be soft targets anymore." The actor expressed hope that their legal action would serve as a warning to other politicians against using their names slanderously. He also mentioned his preparedness for the upcoming legal battle and his expectation for a swift verdict.
What had Surekha said?
On Wednesday, the Telangana minister provoked outrage when she alleged that the reason behind Chaitanya and Prabhu's divorce was none other than KT Rama Rao (KTR). "(KTR) was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of the actresses and then find their weaknesses to blackmail them...Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family," Surekha had said. She claimed that KTR had demanded sexual favors from the Akkineni family and this scandal contributed to Chaitanya-Prabhu's divorce.
