Naga Chaitanya turns entrepreneur, launches pan-Asian cloud kitchen Shoyu
Naga Chaitanya has embarked on a new journey, that of an entrepreneur. He has launched Shoyu, a cloud kitchen brand in partnership with food delivery app Swiggy. Based in Hyderabad, Shoyu (which means a type of Japanese soy sauce) offers pan-Asian cuisine via online delivery and bulk ordering. Its soft launch took place some days back and its operations are now in full swing.
What did Chaitanya say about the venture?
While announcing the venture last week, Chaitanya wrote on social media, "Good food is something I've always looked out for .. I've been lucky to have traveled the world and experience various cuisines." "Asian has always been close to my heart .. that's exactly why I wanted to recreate that experience for you all. Presenting shoyu .. a premium delivery only brand (sic)."
Here's more on what Swiggy executive said of partnership
Shoyu's menu comprises food items like Thai curries, nigiri, sushi, soups, rice, noodles, dim sums, baos, and many more. Notably, Shoyu marks Swiggy's first exclusive partnership with a celebrity-led brand. Speaking about it, Paul Varghese, VP (Supply), Swiggy said, "We are delighted to break new ground with Chaitanya's Shoyu, a novel concept, with a choice of delicious Asian foods in carefully designed and sustainable packaging."
'Excited about customer response this brand is witnessing'
"We are excited about the customer response this brand is witnessing in such a short span and proud to be associated with Shoyu that is setting new stands for cloud kitchen brands in India," Varghese added. To note, celebrities venturing into the food business is nothing new. Last year, Tamil superstar Nayanthara entered this space after investing in Chennai-based Chai Waale, a beverage brand.
These are the upcoming projects of Chaitanya
Meanwhile, on the acting front, Chaitanya was last seen in the commercially successful film Bangarraju (2022) where he shared the screen space with his father, Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna. He will next be seen in Vikram K Kumar-helmed Thank You, co-starring Raashii Khanna. The film's release date is expected to be announced soon. Chaitanya also has a web series titled Dhoota in the pipeline.
