'Why I'm treated like criminal?'—Naga Chaitanya on divorce from Samantha
What's the story
Tollywood actor Naga Chaitanya has spoken about the immense public interest in his divorce from Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Speaking on the Raw Talks With VK podcast recently, he wondered why their split, which was finalized in 2021, is still a topic of conversation.
"We wanted to go our own ways...What more explanation is needed, I don't understand," he said.
Privacy plea
Chaitanya called for privacy and respect post-divorce
Chaitanya expressed his anger at the media's obsession with his personal life.
"I'm hoping the audience and media will respect that. We have asked for privacy. Please respect us and give us privacy on this matter," he said.
"But, unfortunately, it is a headline. It became a topic of gossip. It became entertainment."
Conscious decision
'It was a very conscious decision': Chaitanya on divorce
Chaitanya stressed that the decision to end his marriage with Prabhu wasn't taken lightly.
"It was a very conscious decision, after much thought and with a lot of respect for the other person," he said.
"I will think 1,000 times before breaking a relationship because I know the repercussions."
"It's not like it's only happening in my life, so why am I treated like a criminal?"
Moving forward
Chaitanya and Prabhu have moved on post-divorce
Chaitanya ended by saying that both he and Prabhu have moved on in life.
"I've moved on with so much grace. She has moved on with so much grace," he said, adding that they are living their own lives now.
"You build yourself, you keep progressing and you will find the right path soon. That's happened to me."
He added that he has found love again and is very happy.
He married actor Sobhita Dhulipala on December 4, 2024.
