Anand and I both changed our names post marriage: Sonam
Many criticized Sonam Kapoor as she changed her name post marriage to "Sonam K Ahuja", but the actor says it is her choice to take her husband's surname. She also pointed out that her husband, Anand Ahuja, changed his name after their marriage but nobody spoke about that. Sonam and Anand tied the knot on May 8 in a traditional Sikh wedding in Mumbai.
Sticking to family surname is also patriarchy, Sonam shuts critics
Many people expressed their disappointment that a feminist icon like her resorted to patriarchy. Sonam says sticking to the surname of the family is also patriarchy as it is a man's name. She said: "If you can give respect to your father, you can give that same respect to your husband. Somebody judging me for my choice is not what feminism stands for."
Sonam to live both in London and Mumbai post marriage
Sonam added that neither her husband nor his family had asked her to change her name and neither did she ask her husband to do it. The actress will now move to London but she said she has been dividing her time between the UK capital and Mumbai in the past two-three years and will continue to do so.
