Comedian Munawar Faruqui buys ₹6.09cr apartment in Mumbai: Report
Renowned stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui has recently invested in a luxury apartment located in an under-construction project in Wadala, Mumbai. The property, spanning 1,767.97 sq ft of built-up area, was acquired for a sum of ₹6.09cr ($820K), as per documents accessed by Square Yards. The transaction was officially registered on September 16 and included three dedicated parking spaces for the new owner.
Faruqui's new home: A glimpse into the luxury
The comedian's new home is part of Lodha Aura, a project under development by Macrotech Developers Limited, also known as Lodha. The 40-story tower offers luxurious 3 BHK and 4 BHK apartments with a range of amenities. According to Square Yards, Faruqui's purchase was a primary market transaction made directly from the developer. The per sq ft rate in and around Wadala ranges anywhere between ₹35K to ₹60K per sqft, as per local brokers.
Faruqui's rising fame in the Indian entertainment industry
Faruqui rose to fame a few years ago due to his stand-up comedy performances. In 2021, he attracted criticism for allegedly mocking Lord Ram and spent a month in prison before being granted bail. He has endured significant online trolling and offline harassment, which led to the cancellation of several of his shows. After winning the reality show Lock Upp, he became the winner of Bigg Boss 17 in January 2024. On April 11, he announced his acting debut.
