'Mrs.': Vikramaditya Motwane criticizes makers for not crediting technicians
What's the story
Acclaimed filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane has publicly slammed the team of Sanya Malhotra's upcoming film, Mrs., for not crediting the technicians who worked on it.
He also expressed disappointment over their failure to acknowledge the creators of The Great Indian Kitchen—the original Malayalam movie that inspired Mrs..
His criticism came in an Instagram post, where he re-shared a news article asking why the technicians were missing from the film's trailer credits.
Credit omission
'Mrs.' trailer's end credit slate lacked technicians' names
Notably, the end credit slate of Mrs.'s trailer, released a few days ago, only mentions "teams" from the production house, studio, and streaming platform Zee5. It doesn't include any technicians' names.
The YouTube description for the film also doesn't state that it is an adaptation of The Great Indian Kitchen.
However, later on Thursday night (January 30), Zee5 shared an updated trailer on Instagram that included credits for both the crew and the original film.
Irony underscored
Motwane highlighted the irony in producers' actions
Motwane highlighted the irony of it all, saying, "Oh the irony of the producers making a film about someone who toils in the kitchen whilst having artistic dreams and then not crediting the artists themselves. Or the creator of the original film."
The original Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen, is a critically acclaimed social commentary that bagged the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film in 2021.
