Aamir Khan turns 51; celebrates with media
Aamir Khan, who turned 51, held a press conference at his Bandra residence, Freeda One and celebrated his birthday with media like every year. Khan shared his biggest wish and said that he wants to buy the Benaras house where his mother has been living in since her childhood. The entire film industry is expected to gather and wish Aamir on his birthday.
Born to a family with filmy connections
Aamir Khan was born to a film producer, Tahir Hussain and Zeenat Hussain on 14 March 1965. His uncle, Nasir Hussain was a movie producer-director; his cousin Tariq Khan and brother, Faisal Khan were also actors.
Aamir Khan worked in many popular films
Aamir Khan had made his first Bollywood appearance as a child in Nasir Hussain's Yaadon Ki Baarat, 1973. He made his first feature film appearance in Holi, 1984. Aamir Khan's debut film was Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). His other popular films include: Raakh (1989); Sarfarosh (1999); Lagaan (2001); Rang De Basanti (2006); Taare Zameen Par (2007); 3 Idiots (2009); and PK (2014).
Aamir Khan's Indian civilian awards and honors
Aamir Khan received two Padma awards (Indian Civilian honors). He was awarded Padma Shri in 2003, and Padma Bhushan in 2010. He was awarded an 'Honorary Doctorate' for his distinguished contribution to Indian Cinema by Maulana Azad National Urdu University.

Aamir Khan won his first Filmfare for his debut in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and received 'Special Mention' at National Film Awards for Raakh and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Aamir Khan started his own production company in 2001, 'Aamir Khan Productions'. The company's first production was Lagaan. He produced other films like Taare Zameen Par, Jane Tu Ya Jane Na, Peepli Live, Dhobi Ghat, Delhi Belly, and Talaash.
Satyamev Jayate: Aamir's television debut
Aamir made his TV debut with 'Satyamev Jayate', a weekly-chat-show which had covered several social issues in India. Three seasons of the show were aired on Star and DD network channels. Sensitive issues like gender discrimination, dowry, malnutrition, female foeticide, superstitious beliefs etc were highlighted on the show. The show discussed and provided possible solutions to the social issues, which made a difference.
Aamir Khan surrounded by controversies
In November 2015, Aamir Khan was sharply criticized on social media for allegedly making comments on 'moving out of India' concerning the rising 'intolerance in India' at an event. In March 2016, a social-activist filed a petition objecting violative usage of 'Satyamev Jayate' under State Emblem of India Act. But, Union Home Affairs Ministry said that the usage of words didn't violate the Act.
