'Mr. & Mrs. Mahi' sees surge in advance bookings
The forthcoming film Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, directed by Sharan Sharma and featuring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, has experienced a significant increase in its advance booking numbers. By Thursday, a day before its release, the movie had reportedly already sold 57,000 tickets across top national chains such as PVRInox and Cinepolis. This surge is largely attributed to Cinema Lovers Day, a promotional event celebrated by exhibitors throughout India.
Smaller chains also contributed to pre-release hype
In addition to the major national chains, the smaller chain MovieMax has also played a part in the pre-release excitement, selling approximately 1,700 tickets with a day still left before the film's premiere. On Cinema Lovers Day, Friday, all film tickets will be priced at a flat rate of ₹99. This strategy has previously been successful with films like Article 370 and Crakk seeing higher collections due to discounted prices.
Projected opening and trade-offs for 'Mr. & Mrs. Mahi'
Based on the robust advance bookings and absence of competition from other big releases, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is projected to open to around ₹5 crore nett. The discounted first-day tickets are expected to draw more viewers on the opening day than it would have during its first weekend. However, some potential viewers who would have watched the film anyway will now do so at subsidized rates.
