What Bollywood, Netflix, Amazon Prime have in store this July
The first half of 2018 turned out to be much better for Bollywood than the entire 2017. In six months, seven Hindi films have entered the coveted Rs. 100 crore club, which is a record of sorts. The second half is expected to be equally (or even more) happening with some promising releases lined-up. Here's a look at movies coming out in July.
The moving tale of Indian hockey legend Sandeep Singh
'Saathiya' and 'Bunty Aur Babli' fame director Shaad Ali has teamed up with Diljit Dosanjh to narrate the incredible story of former India hockey captain Sandeep Singh aka 'Flicker Singh'. Touted as the "greatest comeback story", 'Soorma' has created quite a buzz with its impactful trailer. Co-starring Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi, it is slated to hit the screens on July 13.
The much talked about debut of Sridevi's elder daughter Janhvi
Shashank Khaitan's 'Dhadak' is arguably the most anticipated film of July, courtesy Janhvi Kapoor. Fans have been yearning to see Janhvi perform on the big screen and their wait will finally be over on July 20. Also, featuring Ishaan Khatter, 'Dhadak' is the official adaptation of Marathi blockbuster 'Sairat' and has been bankrolled by Karan Johar.
The return of Sanjay Dutt
In the last week of July, Sanjay Dutt will return to celluloid as a gangster, one of his most loved onscreen avatars, with Tigmanshu Dhulia's 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3'. The film also stars Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill, Soha Ali Khan, Deepak Tijori, Kabir Bedi, Nafisa Ali and Deepraj Rana. It is slated to release on July 27.
The best of what's coming to Netflix this month
Like every month, a slate of new shows and movies are coming to Netflix in July as well. In what will certainly please the binge-watchers, the streaming giant is adding the original 'Jurassic Park' trilogy along with mid-2000s favorite 'The Princess Diaries'. Later in the month, 'Shameless' season 8 and 'Orange Is the New Black' season 6 will also be arriving on the service.
Sci-fi romance 'Zoe' will debut on Amazon Prime
Arriving on Amazon Prime this month are Steven Spielberg's 'A.I. Artificial Intelligence', David Lynch's 'Mulholland Drive', Rian Johnson's 'The Brothers Bloom', and cult favorite 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension'. The entire 'Jaws' franchise is also slated to hit the service in July. And, the eagerly awaited science fiction romance 'Zoe' will premiere on July 20.
