Malayalam superstar Mohanlal worried fans when news broke that he had been admitted to a hospital due to a suspected viral respiratory infection, as per a statement released by the medical facility. The actor is at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi, Mathrubhumi reported. Recent updates mention that the 64-year-old actor's health is improving, and doctors have advised him to take medications, rest for five days, and avoid crowded places.
'High-grade fever, breathing difficulty, generalized myalgia,' says hospital statement
Earlier, the statement by Amrita Hospital read, "This is to certify that I have examined Mr. Mohanlal, 64 years old male, MRD No 1198168. He is having complaints of high-grade fever, breathing difficulty, and generalized myalgia." "He is suspected to have a viral respiratory infection. He has been advised to take medications with five days of rest and to avoid crowded places," it stated.
Mohanlal's directorial debut to release in October
Before hospitalization, Mohanlal was working on his directorial debut Barroz—now set to be released on October 3. The release date of the 3D fantasy drama has been delayed multiple times. It was previously scheduled to be released on March 28. Based on the novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure by Jijo Punnoose, IMDb describes its story as, "A 400-year-old spirit, Barroz, assigned to guard D'Gama's treasure is waiting to hand it over only to a true descendant of D'Gama."
Mohanlal recently pledged ₹3 crore for Wayanad rehabilitation
Earlier this month, Mohanlal—who is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army—reached Wayanad in his Army uniform and pledged ₹3 crore for the rehabilitation of the disaster-struck region.
