'Mohandas' teaser: Vishnu Vishal-led thriller looks similar to 'Dexter'
Fresh off the success of FIR, Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal is back with another film, Mohandas. Written and directed by Murali Karthick (Kalavu), Mohandas is Vishal's 17th film overall and Karthick's second directorial. Its teaser, lasting nearly two minutes, was dropped late on Wednesday and from that, we can conclude this will be another psycho-thriller featuring Vishal after his blockbuster film, Ratsasan (2018).
What does the teaser show?
The teaser starts with a Mahatma Gandhi quote, "The future depends on what you do today." As it flashes, we hear the sound of what seems like a man getting murdered with a weapon, which sets the eerie tone of Mohandas. And then, Vishal appears, wondering if he wants to be a lion, tiger, panther, or fox, and finally settles down for lion.
Mohandas seems similar to a famed on-screen serial killer
If we are to describe Mohandas, he seems somewhat similar to Dexter Morgan from the acclaimed American TV show, Dexter. His motive to kill is pretty clear to him and he leaves it upon the viewer to deduce whether he is the villain or the hero. The background score and sound design add suspense to the thrilling clip and Vishal as Mohandas is commendable.
What else does the teaser show?
The tagline at the end, "Maybe a true story," and Vishal saying, "Cheers, mate!" holding a glass of liquor, feel intriguing. We do hope Mohandas offers something novel as far as the characterization of a psychotic vigilante (?) goes. The film co-features Aishwarya Rajesh, Indrajith Sukumaran, Karunakaran, Lallu, Prakash Raghavan, and Shariq Hassan. Its release date has not been announced yet by the makers.
