Disney's animated sequel, Moana 2, has accomplished a phenomenal feat by racking up 27.3 million views in its first five days of release on Disney+. The feat makes it the third most successful Disney Animation theatrical film to premiere on the platform.
The film, with Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprising their roles as Moana and Maui, respectively, had the biggest premiere for a Disney Animation film since Encanto.

The first Moana film has been streamed for an incredible 1.4 billion hours, making it the most-watched film on Disney+ since its inception in 2019.
Originally conceived as a Disney+ television show, Moana 2 hit theaters on November 28 and has earned over $1 billion at the global box office since.
The sequel was helmed by Dana Ledoux Miller, David G Derrick Jr., and Jason Hand.

Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear composed the music for Moana 2, replacing Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the songs for the first movie.
The cast features Nicole Scherzinger, Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda, Rose Matafeo, Temuera Morrison, David Fane, and Hualalai Chung.
Co-director Miller had said about the emotional connection of the first film, "It says, 'It's OK to be Polynesian and be strong and adventurous and funny.' You see yourself reflected on screen and that's powerful."
