Michael B. Jordan to direct, lead Amazon's 'Thomas Crown Affair'
Michael B. Jordan is set to direct and star in a new version of the classic film The Thomas Crown Affair. The project, which will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, has been in development for some time with Jordan's Outlier Society banner. This marks the third iteration of the film, following the original 1968 version and a 1999 remake.
Jordan's directorial success with 'Creed III'
Jordan recently made his directorial debut with Creed III, which broke box office records by earning a franchise-record $58.6M on its opening weekend. The film, which he also starred in and produced, went on to gross $276M worldwide. This success has set high expectations for his upcoming directorial venture with The Thomas Crown Affair.
Jordan's involvement in 'Thomas Crown Affair'
Jordan will not only direct and star in the film, but also produce it under his Outlier Society banner alongside Elizabeth Raposo. The script for the new version of The Thomas Crown Affair has been penned by Drew Pearce, with previous drafts written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Additional producers on the project include Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff, with Alan Trustman, writer of the original 1968 film, serving as an executive producer.
Plot details under wraps; search for co-star underway
The plot details for the new film are being kept under wraps. However, the next priority for the production is to find a co-star to share the screen with Jordan. Given the impact of previous roles on their respective female leads, this part is expected to attract considerable attention from A-list actors.
Jordan's upcoming projects and collaborations
Jordan has several projects in the pipeline, including the next John Clark movie Rainbow Six and a sequel to I Am Legend with Will Smith. He has also reunited with Ryan Coogler, his frequent collaborator on projects like Fruitvale Station and the Creed and Black Panther franchises, for a new genre film. This movie, which was filmed in Louisiana earlier this year, is scheduled for a March 7, 2025 IMAX release by Warner Bros.
