Anurag Basu's 'Metro... In Dino' may get pushed to 2026
What's the story
The much-awaited film Metro... In Dino, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan, is facing yet another delay that may push its release to 2026, reported TOI.
Originally slated for a 2024 premiere, the film's release has been pushed as director Anurag Basu is busy with another project.
This other project is an untitled love story with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, scheduled for Diwali 2025.
Project priority
Basu's new project takes precedence over 'Metro... In Dino'
Basu's untitled love story with Aaryan and Sreeleela is moving forward steadily with the teaser already out.
The movie will be clashing with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's Thama, further cementing its priority in Basu's schedule.
This change of focus has led to speculation that Metro... In Dino might not be released before 2026.
To recall, in November, a Mid-Day report said that Basu had decided to reshoot some scenes.
This may have contributed to the delay too.
Release limbo
Film's fate uncertain amid other major releases
The fate of Metro... In Dino remains uncertain as it competes with other major releases scheduled for 2025-2026.
Originally announced in December 2022, the film features an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkana Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
It's backed by Bhushan Kumar.
