Met Gala 2025: Theme, dress code, co-chairs, hosts announced
What's the story
Fashion enthusiasts, unite!
The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute has revealed the dress code for the 2025 Met Gala. This year, the focus is on menswear with a theme called "Tailored for You."
The theme coincides with the institute's upcoming exhibit Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
As always, the gala and exhibit serve as key fundraisers for the museum's Costume Institute, celebrating fashion, craftsmanship, and cultural influence.
Exhibit focus
'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' exhibit to explore Black dandyism
The 2025 presentation will explore the cultural and historical dimensions of the Black dandy, following its journey from 18th-century Enlightenment Europe.
A Black dandy is a stylish, well-groomed Black man who blends historical elegance with modern fashion—redefining masculinity and race norms.
The exhibit is inspired by Monica L Miller's book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. It seeks to redefine the popular notion of a "dandy" while celebrating Black menswear fashion through the ages.
