Karthi-Arvind Swami's 'Meiyazhagan' collects ₹5cr on Day-2 despite 'Devara' clash
Tamil family drama Meiyazhagan, featuring Karthi and Arvind Swami, is making waves at the box office, even with Jr NTR's Devara Part 1 releasing on the same day. The film, which hit theaters on Friday (September 27), saw a nice jump in earnings on its second day. As per Sacnilk, it collected ₹5 crore on Day 2, bringing its total to ₹8.1 crore.
'Meiyazhagan' witnessed impressive theater occupancy on Day 2
Released only in Tamil theaters, the film recorded a strong overall occupancy of 44.86% on its second day. The morning shows saw a 27.42% occupancy rate, which upped to 44.31% for the afternoon shows and further upped to 45.88% for the evening shows. The night shows recorded the highest occupancy at 61.84%.
'Meiyazhagan' received positive reviews from critics and audiences
The film, which tells the life-changing story of a middle-aged guy returning to his hometown after 22 years, has been a hit with both critics and fans. The cast is also packed with talent, featuring Sri Divya, Rajkiran, and Swathi Konde in key roles. In other news, Netflix has bagged the digital rights for Meiyazhagan. The film will likely be available on the streaming platform after its successful run in theaters.
