Meghan Markle-Victoria Beckham's feud intensifies, this time because of Netflix
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is said to be "furious" after Victoria Beckham announced her new Netflix show before Markle could unveil hers. The 43-year-old Duchess has plans to launch a cooking show on Netflix as part of her and Prince Harry's deal with the streaming giant. However, Beckham's show The House of VB, is also set to premiere on Netflix next year.
'She likes to be in control'
Royal expert Ingrid Seward believes Markle is likely "furious" that Beckham is releasing her show before hers. Speaking to Fabulous, she said: "I'm sure [Markle] would have been furious because she likes to be in control." "She'd be annoyed that Victoria had pipped her to the post." "She'd have to be magnanimous about it deep down inside. She might be annoyed, but she cannot show it, and she's enough of an actress to know that she can't possibly show it."
Seward's advice for Markle amid delayed show release
Seward has advised that "the longer the delay, the less interest people will have in it." Seward suggested that Markle is at a point where she "needs to make a positive, nice show," especially since people "haven't really heard anything from Meghan for ages and ages." "I think to say anything else would be a grave error, and she knows that. Of course, she'd be annoyed, but there's absolutely nothing she can do about it."
Will Beckham and Markle ever meet again?
Seward added, "I think if they came across each other at some a social event, Meghan would be all smiles because we know she does that, but I can't think that their paths would particularly cross again." "I think the Beckhams have distanced themselves from Meghan and Harry, but... Meghan and Hary are in the descendant, not the ascendant."
Markle's upcoming Netflix series: What we know so far
Earlier this year, Deadline reported Markle's upcoming series is still in early development stages. The show will see the former actor exploring "the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship." A source told Us Weekly in August that the series "is going to be a take on her and the joy of living. [There will be] little things she's learned in terms of being a modern-day hostess." It doesn't have a title yet.
What to expect from 'The House of VB'?
The show is described as, "a compelling, verité-led insight into one of the most recognized women in the world and her journey to redefine herself and build a fashion empire." "Through access to Victoria herself, an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at her business, a never-before-seen archive detailing her fashion journey, her family and those closest to her, the series will tell the story of Victoria's reinvention as a Creative Director of her own brand."
The Sussex-Beckham feud and its impact
The tension between the Sussexes and the Beckhams reportedly goes back to 2018 when Markle and Prince Harry accused the Beckham family of leaking private information about them. The strain was further worsened when David Beckham was reportedly "snubbed" by Prince Harry at the 2018 Invictus Games, despite flying from London to Sydney for 22 hours at his request. Tom Bower details the feud in his book The House of Beckham: Money, Sex and Power.
