Meet the 7.7ft-tall wrestler who plays Sarkata in 'Stree 2'
The recently released horror-comedy film Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank has been raking earth-shattering numbers at the box office since its Independence Day debut. The buzz is quite strong—particularly for its headless villain, Sarkata. The character is portrayed by Sunil Kumar, a 7.7ft tall wrestler, and constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Known as "The Great Khali of Jammu," Kumar's towering presence has added an extra layer of intrigue.
Kumar's casting was based on his height and physique
Previously, director Amar Kaushik revealed in an interview with Bollywood Hungama that Kumar was selected for the role due to his height and physique. Also known by his ring name, 'The Great Angaar,' the Stree 2 team used Kumar's body shots while Sarkata's face was created using CGI. Despite his significant contribution to the film, Kumar is only credited as Sarkata in the movie's end credits.
Kumar's life beyond the silver screen
Apart from his acting stint, Kumar serves as a constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He is also an avid handball and volleyball player. Born on December 16, 1990, Kumar harbors ambitions of representing India in the WWE championship. He had participated in the WWE Tryout back in 2019. Notably, he stands five inches taller than retired professional wrestler The Great Khali (Dalip Singh Rana).
'Stree 2' continues to dominate the box office
Stree 2 has been performing exceptionally well at the box office. The film is especially popular in mass circuits, boosted by the Raksha Bandhan holiday. According to Sacnilk, the movie has already raked in ₹228.45cr net. In addition to Kumar, Stree 2 boasts a star-studded cast including Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. The film also features special appearances by Tamannaah Bhatia and Varun Dhawan. The movie is a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree.
