Breaking stereotypes, this 19-year-old model features on Allure
What's the story
It was a breath of fresh air to see the cover page of 'Allure' magazine. 19-year-old American-Somalian model Halima Aden became the first-ever to don hijab and be featured on cover of top US magazine.
Explaining her choice, Halima was vocal that it's the way she chose to interpret her religion.
'Allure' explained how it was their way of paying ode to American beauty.
Controversy
My 'Hijab' my crown
Halima explained how she has been taken by surprise with the response she's been getting from the designers.
In a surprisingly casual way, Aden said how hijab is normal and it should be taken as such.
Halima is seasoned in a way to be on the cover of Allure as earlier the model featured on the front page of Vogue Arabia.

Championing of the 'Hijab'
Big brands have been championing it and at the same time commercializing the head scarf off recently in a bid to make it more mainstream.
It's also being done with an aim to make this regular attire more diverse.
Embracing and glamourizing hijab has also become synonymous with the fashion circle and social media to spread cultural diversity.
