Nothing suspicious about Sridevi's sudden demise, says MEA
The Ministry Of External Affairs has ruled out the possibility of anything suspicious in Bollywood legend Sridevi's sudden demise in Dubai, thus putting an end to all the speculations. Dubai Public Prosecution had attributed her death to accidental drowning after three days of investigation. It was earlier reported that Sridevi died of a massive cardiac arrest. She breathed her last on 24 February.
MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar addressed the media on the matter
"As far as I know, the paperwork from UAE govt were handed over to us and on the basis of that, the mortal remains were brought to India. Had there been something suspicious, it would have come out by now," Raveesh said.
There was a delay in repatriation of body
The legal formalities took a while as the Dubai Police had transferred the case to DPP who then revealed that Sridevi accidentally drowned in the bathtub of her hotel room. In Dubai, any death outside a hospital has to be thoroughly probed by law. The mortal remains were brought to India on 27 February and the last rites were performed the next day.
Sridevi passed away at the age of 54
On the fateful night of 24 February, Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor found her lying motionless in the bathtub. She had gone to Dubai to attend the wedding of her relative Mohit Marwah along with Boney and her younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. Janhvi Kapoor did not make it to the ceremony as she was shooting for her debut film 'Dhadak' in Mumbai.
