'Avengers: Doomsday' cast reveal: Marvel accidentally spoils 'Thunderbolts' plot twist
What's the story
In a major goof-up, Marvel Studios has spoiled the ending of its upcoming film Thunderbolts, which is set to hit theaters in May 2025.
The twist in the tale was revealed through a promotional tease for another Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday, which is releasing a year later.
The revelation kills one of the biggest selling points of Thunderbolts—it might kill off most/all of them!
Characters
'Thunderbolts' features expendable heroes so there's chance to take risks
The film's roster features heroes who aren't core to other MCU stories, thus making them expendable.
Characters like Ghost (who hasn't been seen since 2018), Red Guardian, Taskmaster, and John Walker, who have only been featured in one MCU story each, could easily get killed off in the film.
Their deaths or chances of deaths were a major hook for audiences.
However, Marvel just killed the anticipation.
Spoiler
'Avengers: Doomsday' casting announcement spoiled 'Thunderbolts's ending
On Thursday, Marvel Studios announced that several characters of Thunderbolts would also appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
The revelation came during a live stream where chairs with the names of the MCU cast members were revealed.
Confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday were Sebastian Stan and Florence Pugh, already presumed to be Thunderbolts survivors.
However, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Hannah John-Kamen's confirmation for Avengers: Doomsday took away any possibility they'd meet their end in Thunderbolts.
Villain
'Thunderbolts' villain's survival also confirmed
The live stream for Avengers: Doomsday also confirmed another major part of Thunderbolts would survive to appear in the former.
The chair showcased on the live stream belonged to Lewis Pullman, the actor playing the mysterious Bob in Thunderbolts.
It's widely believed that Bob will actually be Robert Reynolds, aka Sentry, an unbelievably powerful hero with an equally powerful dark alter ego named The Void.
